Inspired by the life of Riley Bednasz.

RILEY’S STORY

Riley was a radiant being. She loved being outside, going on walks any chance she could get, and exploring places like Letchworth State Park, Zoar Valley, and Griffith Sculpture Park.

She was constantly inspired by the natural world. Almost all of her drawings depict flowers, trees, or things that are growing and winding together. She had looked into attending college to study and eventually pursue a career in an environmental field.

Riley had a laugh that was contagious, a smile that lit up a room, and an enormously deep love for Fat Cat, a stray orange cat who found us late in her life, but who brought Riley a kind of peace and love that was unmatched.

Riley struggled at times through her life with mental health, and became a victim of suicide in 2012 at the age of 21.

RILEY’S LEGACY

The family of Riley Bednasz has continued to spread the radiance of Riley’s memory through her art. Since her passing in 2012, family and friends continue to attend the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Out of Darkness Walk in Buffalo, NY each year. With a desire to help others and spread messages of peace and hope, we have become more involved in raising money through creating meaningful messages on wood, and sharing stories and tears with strangers who become friends.

We hope to continue sharing Riley’s light through her art, and supporting those struggling with mental health or suicide.
